What training is available?

Training forms an essential part of developing your career as a foster carer. Each foster carer will have an individual Personal Development Plan which is based on developing their skills in meeting the needs of the children placed with them and to assist them in developing their knowledge and expertise as a foster carer. The plan is devised in consultation with the Supervising Social Worker and Registered Manager and is tailored to your personal training requirements.

Each potential foster carer will complete the Skills to Foster Training course during their assessment process and continue their learning and development through in house training sessions and external courses.

Progress Care Solutions gives its full support to carers wanting to undertake the NVQ Level 3 Caring for Children qualification. This option is available to all carers once they have been approved for a year. Carers will also work towards completing the Children’s Work Force Development Council (CWDC) Induction training.
