How do I apply?

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer, in the first instance call our fostering team to discuss the thorough application process and your suitability as a potential carer.

Due to the very nature of the role, each foster carer will undergo a detailed assessment check and approval process which can take several months to complete. This is to ensure that we can make a good assessment of an individual’s suitability to provide the support children require.

Progress will endeavour to build relationships with all our potential foster carers to support them through the process, which includes:

Home visits

Application paperwork

Enhanced CRB check (Criminal Records Bureau)

Health assessments

Local Authority check

Health and Safety assessments of your home

References from employers, family and friends

'Skills to Foster' Training

During this process, we will need to compile a comprehensive report (known as a Form F) to present to the Independent Fostering Panel. Our Panel will then consider your application on completion of all necessary checks and a decision will be made regarding your suitability.
